Mathematics Achievement

St. Mark's students have been achieving many mathematics awards over the years. Many of our students find Mathematics interesting and have an affinity towards it. A high percentage of our students regularly achieve high marks in this particular subject in various standardised examinations, including the Cambridge IGCSE and the ISA. Below is a list of our students' achievements we would like to share with you.

Gold Medalist - World International Mathematical Olympiad 2019

We are pleased to announce the Gold Award winner for the World International Mathematical Olympiad held in Tokyo, Japan in December 2019.

Congratulations to two of our students for winning a Gold Award (Year 1) and a Merit Award (Year 10) from this prestigious event. These students have achieved "Gold" in the previous two regional Olympiad rounds before securing a stand at the World International Olympiad.

St. Mark's International School is a Trilingual School of Mathematics and Science. Our comprehensive Maths and Science program helps build confidence in learners to achieve success in these subject areas.

Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO)

St. Mark’s Students won six Medals at the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO)

St. Mark’s International School is pleased to share the good news that our students have won 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals at the final round of Hong Kong International Mathematics Olympiad (HKIMO) held in Hong Kong. It is one of the most glowing success stories in our history, as all six of our students chosen to represent Thailand returned with a medal. Our student-representatives were from various age groups, ranging from Prep to Secondary 2. This achievement at an international level accentuates the strength of St. Mark’s competency in the Mathematics program. This year, 1,300 students from 10 countries participated in the HKIMO. Only participants who have won in the heat round (national round) are qualified to participate in the final round of the international competition in Hong Kong. The content of the HKIMO competition focuses on mathematics skills in logical thinking, number theory, geometry, combinatorics, arithmetic, and algebra.

Science and Mathematics Talent Development (SMTD) or International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO)

The Thai Government's establishment of Science and Mathematics Talent Development (SMTD) project called International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) is to find highly capable students in the area of Science and Mathematics each year to represent Thailand in the World Mathematics & Science Olympiad. The competition consists of two elimination rounds:

1st round: narrowing down 100,000 students nationwide to just 1,000 students

2nd round: narrowing down 1,000 students to just the top 15 students for Gold, the next 30 students for Silver and the next 45 students for Bronze. The Gold Medalist will be selected to represent Thailand to participate in the annual World Mathematics and Science Olympiad.

Congratulations to our student who has successfully passed both elimination rounds and achieved a spectacular Gold. This achievement is truly extraordinary, as she ranks among the top 15 students out of the 100,000 contestants who participated in this prestigious competition in 2019. With this achievement, the Ministry of Education (MOE) called our school to extend their congratulations on our success.
